You were never meant
to smell like everyone else.

Khass — خاص, meant for you alone — is a house of three oud fragrances, each made to order in batches of one hundred. No shelves. No repeats. Nothing you'll pass in a crowded room twice.

"Khass means what it says — private. Not made for the shelf, not made for the crowd. Made, in a batch of one hundred, for you."
— Founding note, Khass

The Gulf's oud houses have done more to bring this material to the West in five years than a century of niche perfumery managed alone — and in doing so, oud went from rare to recognisable. Bottles by the hundred thousand, worn by strangers on the same train. We think the material deserves better than that.

Khass exists for the version of oud that stays rare on purpose: composed in small batches, released in limited runs, and never restocked once a batch is gone. What you wear won't be on the next man.

The Making

Why it takes twelve weeks.

Each Khass scent is composed and bottled to order by a small private-label perfumery, in batches of exactly one hundred — no more are made, and none are held back in a warehouse waiting for a restock that never comes. We don't manufacture until a scent has its first hundred names against it.

That's the trade we're asking you to make: a twelve-week wait, in exchange for a bottle that was never mass-produced, never discounted, and never sat on a shelf. It's also, frankly, how a two-person company keeps its word — we spend nothing on stock we haven't already sold.

01

The batch fills

Reservations open per scent. Once a hundred names are in, that scent goes into production — not before.

02

The wait

Roughly twelve weeks from the batch closing to your door — the real time it takes to compose, settle and bottle oud properly.

03

The seal

Every bottle is hand-numbered and wax-sealed by us before it ships — yours will carry its place in the hundred, not a barcode.

The Materials

Why the ingredients cost what they cost.

Most "oud" on the high street isn't oud at all — it's a synthetic accord built to smell like it from a distance, because real agarwood is too rare and too expensive to put in a £15 bottle. Khass doesn't use the accord. Every scent is built on the materials a fine perfumer would actually reach for, in the quantities a fragrance needs — not the quantities a margin allows. That's also most of why a bottle takes twelve weeks: real materials have to be sourced, aged and rested, not mixed and shipped.

Cambodia & Assam

Wild agarwood oud

The resin a diseased agarwood tree produces in self-defence, aged for years before it's ever distilled. It's the material oud is named for — and the reason a single kilo can cost more than gold.

Kashmir

Hand-picked saffron

Three threads per flower, picked by hand at dawn and dried within hours. Used in Dhahab for the honeyed warmth no synthetic saffron accord quite gets right.

Bulgaria's Rose Valley

Damask rose otto

Steam-distilled from roses harvested before sunrise, before the heat burns the oil out of the petal. It takes roughly four tonnes of petals to fill a single litre.

Composed, Not Synthesised

Ambergris accord

The warm, skin-like base note that held vintage French perfumery together — built here from a sustainably sourced accord, in place of the whale-derived original.

A fragrance built on real oud and rose needs time most brands don't give it: several weeks of rest after blending, so the raw materials marry into one scent instead of sitting on top of each other. Rush that step and you get something that smells like its ingredient list. Wait for it, and you get Khass.
